Trump planning China trip to discuss trade: report

President Trump reportedly is planning to travel to China in November to discuss a new trade relationship with President Xi Jinping.

Former White House chief strategist Steven Bannon told the Daily Mail in Hong Kong that Trump was intent on avoiding a trade war with China.

“There’s too much at stake to slip into a trade war right off the bat,” Bannon told the Daily Mail. “I think it has to be engagement [between] the United States and China. I think the November meeting with the president is going to really be that, and I think good things will come out of it.”

Bannon, who left the administration last month, said he believed the US will succeed in staving off a trade war.
