College Notes: The Spring Edition

The spring season certainly didn’t lack for action involving former Upper Valley high school athletes. Here’s a look:

Baseball

Holy Cross was 24-29 but won the Patriot League and upset No. 25 Nebraska before bowing out in the NCAA tournament. Senior pitcher Joe Cravero (Hanover) was 3-4 with a 4.67 ERA and started 11 times during his 16 appearances on the mound. He started against the Cornhuskers, allowing five hits and two runs in four innings. … Junior pitcher Jack Weinberger (Sunapee) appeared in 12 games for Springfield (Mass.) College as a reliever, going 0-2 with a 4.11 ERA. The Pride was 15-14. … New Hampshire Technical Institute was 7-17 with freshman infielder and pitcher Cole Cruz (Sunapee), freshman catcher Jeff Quimby (Claremont/Newport) and sophomore first baseman and pitcher Walt Hammond (Canaan/Mascoma) on the roster.
